The six rules
- Your lake owns what it produces and adds. Public data stays public, credited to its source.
- Lake Pulse uses your data to run the service: to store it, analyze it, and show it to the audience your lake chooses.
- Lake Pulse may combine data across lakes, with no lake identifiable, for trends, research and new products, and may license that combined data.
- Sharing your lake's identifiable data requires your lake's opt-in, even with government, universities and nonprofits. It is off by default and you can revoke it at any time, except where the law requires sharing.
- Lake Pulse never sells your lake's identifiable data, and these promises bind any future owner of Lake Pulse. Your lake can export its data at any time.
- Your lake's record stays complete. Once data is added, it is never deleted. You can deactivate a monitoring location, or add a correction that replaces a value going forward; the original stays in the record's history. A value is removed only if your lake contacts Lake Pulse and shows it is clearly wrong and distorting analysis or modeling.
Personal information about people, such as account and contact details, is handled under our Privacy Policy and can be deleted on request.
What this means for you
- You control who sees your lake's data, inside and outside Lake Pulse.
- Combined, anonymous data helps every lake see trends no single lake could see alone.
- If Lake Pulse ever changes hands, these promises go with it.
