Can a consultant be our Lake Admin?

Yes — as a co-admin. The subscription stays in your name.

Because you own property on or near the lake, you hold the Lake Admin subscription. From there you can bring your consultant in as a co-admin: same privileges as you, while you remain the primary subscriber.

Deputized, not above accountability

This role deputizes you to act on behalf of your lake. Lake Pulse retains the authority to revoke Lake Admin status if community feedback finds the admin has been negligent, misleading, or otherwise inactive — what we call “gone zombie.”

Important note

For lakes that don’t have a Lake Admin, Lake Pulse is the Lake Admin by default. We keep the lake profile current, respond to community input, and maintain the baseline timeline until someone on the lake steps into the role.

What about Plus?

Lake Admin lite for smaller lakes.

Plus gives you many Lake Admin benefits without the full role.

For smaller lakes with only one or a few stakeholders, the Plus subscription might be enough to get the job done. You get deeper analytics, broader Toolbox discounts, and more community tools — without taking on the responsibilities of a Lake Admin.

We don't replace lake associations — we complement them.

The association keeps its voice, its board, and its members. Lake Pulse gives it one place to hold the data, coordinate volunteers, and show its work.

Where the work happens

A Lake Admin runs the lake from the Portal.

The Portal is the starting point for every subscriber on your lake — free Members included. It's where subscriptions are managed, data is uploaded and shared, lake news, field notes and field images show up, and the Boathouse is one click away. As Lake Admin you see the fullest version of it: zones, neighbors, programs, and the lake's whole timeline. The web Portal carries the most functionality, and the app offers most of what the web version does, so you can work from the dock.

Individual subscribers can still order tools and test in front of their own property without asking permission. The Lake Admin helps the whole lake stay organized, not gatekeep every measurement.

Own the lake, or speak for everyone on it
Need a science degree or a limnology background
Do the sampling alone — that's what the community is for
Guarantee outcomes; impairments are watershed problems
Pay for everyone else's subscription

Most of the work is seasonal — heavier in spring and midsummer, quiet in winter.

You care about the next twenty years

The value of a lake timeline compounds. Whoever starts it is doing it for people they'll never meet.

If none of those land, that's fine — join as a Member and let someone else carry it. A lake with one committed admin and fifty casual members is healthier than one with fifty admins.
