Before you buy anything, see what's already known about your lake.
4 steps to get going
Via app or web browser.
Download the app
Free, about two minutes. It's the fastest way in, and it's where alerts and field notes live. The Portal on the web works too if you'd rather start on a big screen.
Sign up with your email
No card, no commitment. An email and a password is enough to look around and see what's already known.
Search for your lake
Most lakes are already in the system. If yours has a nickname locally, try the official name on the state map too — same water, different label.
Place yourself on it
Tell us where you are on the lake: your dock, your cove, the landing you use. Location is the whole point — conditions two miles away may not describe your water at all.

Why location matters
The boat landing and the far cove are not the same lake.
Near the landing
Traffic, stirred sediment, and invasive hitchhikers. Problems usually show up here first.
The far cove
A quiet corner can look almost untouched. One lake-wide grade would hide both truths.
