Overview

Sharp 3 m · Priced on the area you draw.

Water History 3 m is a one-time lookback across the PlanetScope archive for the area you draw. It shows when and where bloom signal and sediment appeared, season by season, from 2017 through the most recently completed season. Use it to set a baseline before monitoring, check whether a treatment or project changed anything, or show how long blooms and sediment events have been part of your lake's story.

Indicative pricing

Area drawn Indicative price (one-time, 2017 to last full season)
5 acres $1,000
50 acres $1,000
5,000 acres $6,600
50,000 acres $59,700

Indicative pricing only. Your fee will vary depending on the exact area polygoned in your shapefile and the years requested. Lake Pulse confirms a customized quote before you pay. The base price covers the first 250 acres; each additional acre is $1.18.

When to use it

Before starting Water Watch or a monitoring program; before and after a treatment, aeration, dredging or watershed project; for grant applications, annual reports or a board asking whether blooms or runoff are getting worse.

How ordering works

  1. Draw a polygon around the whole lake, a cove, a swim beach or a stretch of shoreline, or upload a shapefile or KML.
  2. The Boathouse checks your polygon for water edge, shoreline buffer and area.
  3. Lake Pulse sends a customized quote within 2 business days.
  4. Accept and pay in the Toolbox. Imagery ordering starts on payment.

What problem does this solve for our lake?

  • Most lakes have no consistent bloom or sediment record, only memories and scattered photos. Water History answers: Which years had blooms? When did they start and end, and where do they begin? Where does sediment enter, and is it happening more often?

What's included?

  • Bloom signal and sediment maps for each season, 2017 to the last full season
  • First and last bloom signal dates and a bloom duration for each season
  • Bloom and sediment frequency maps showing how often each part of your area showed signal
  • A written summary of the pattern across years
  • Polygon review by the Boathouse

What's not included

  • Seasons before 2017 (the 3 m archive starts in 2017)
  • Toxin results, species identification, or concentrations in µg/L, mg/L or NTU
  • Raw imagery downloads (licensing permits derived maps only)
  • Interpretation of causes or treatment recommendations

Requirements

  • A polygon drawn in the Toolbox, or an uploaded shapefile or KML. Portal delivery requires Plus, Lake Admin or PRO; Member and Basic receive the report by email.
  • Want help deciding which areas or years matter? Book a Boathouse call.
What you get back

Results

  • Season maps and frequency maps as layers in your lake portal, plus a summary report in Documents & Reports.

Pro tips

  • Order Water History first, then Water Watch, so this season's data sits against years of context.
  • Add a lab test at a hotspot the frequency map flags to ground-truth the pattern.

About these results

Every image shows the date it was captured. Satellite products are derived from reflected light recorded as a satellite passes over your lake. Values are relative indices, not laboratory concentrations, and cannot identify an organism, a toxin, or a pollutant. Cloud, haze, sun glint, shallow water, and shoreline effects can distort or hide the signal, and small lakes, narrow arms, and coves may fall below the image resolution. Conditions can change within hours of a pass. The absence of a detected bloom or sediment does not mean the water is safe.

Archive coverage depends on cloud cover; some weeks and some seasons will have gaps, and early archive years have fewer clear images. Results can help you make decisions about safe swimming, but are not definitive for every place and time, and it is always good practice to check posted signs and your state or local health authorities.
