Overview

Sharp 3 m · Priced on the area you draw.

Water Watch 3 m tracks surface bloom signal and sediment (turbidity) across the area you draw on every clear day from May through October, using PlanetScope imagery at 3 m resolution. Each clear-day map posts to your lake portal, alerts fire when bloom or sediment signal rises above your area's own baseline, and a season summary closes the year. It is the step up from the free Bloom Season view and Water Snapshot 10 m, built for small lakes, coves and shorelines where 10 m pixels fall short.

Indicative pricing

Area drawn Indicative price (May–Oct season)
5 acres $1,600
50 acres $1,600
5,000 acres $11,350
50,000 acres $103,600

Indicative pricing only. Your fee will vary depending on the exact area polygoned in your shapefile and the season dates requested. Lake Pulse confirms a customized quote before you pay. The base price covers the first 250 acres; each additional acre is $2.05.

When to use it

Lakes, coves or beaches where 10 m pixels are too coarse; waters with a history of summer blooms, storm runoff or wake-driven shoreline erosion; lake communities that need a dated, daily record to support swim advisories, treatment timing, no-wake decisions or grant reporting.

How ordering works

  1. Draw a polygon around the whole lake, a cove, a swim beach or a stretch of shoreline, or upload a shapefile or KML.
  2. The Boathouse checks your polygon for water edge, shoreline buffer and area.
  3. Lake Pulse sends a customized quote within 2 business days.
  4. Accept and pay in the Toolbox. Imagery ordering starts on payment.

What problem does this solve for our lake?

  • Blooms start in coves and along shorelines, and sediment plumes follow storms and heavy boat traffic. Both are easy to miss between site visits. Water Watch answers: Where is the bloom signal today? When did it start, and how long did it last? Where does sediment enter after a storm, and how long does it stay?

What's included?

  • Clear-day 3 m bloom signal and sediment maps for your polygon, May 1 to October 31
  • Baselines for your area, built from early-season and archive imagery
  • Alerts by app and email when bloom or sediment signal rises above your baseline
  • Season summary: first and last bloom signal, bloom duration in days, sediment events, and hotspot maps
  • Polygon review by the Boathouse

What's not included

  • Toxin results, cell counts or species identification
  • Chlorophyll-a or phycocyanin concentrations in µg/L, or TSS or turbidity in mg/L or NTU
  • Raw imagery downloads (licensing permits derived maps only)
  • Coverage on cloudy days, or of blooms or sediment below the surface
  • Lab ground-truthing (see BloomCheck, the Microcystin Test or a TSS test)

Requirements

  • A polygon drawn in the Toolbox, or an uploaded shapefile or KML. Portal delivery requires Plus, Lake Admin or PRO; Member and Basic receive a weekly email digest and the season summary.
  • Not sure what to draw? Book a Boathouse call and we'll help you scope it.
What you get back

Results

  • Daily map layer in your lake portal, alerts in the app and by email, and a season summary report in Documents & Reports.

Pro tips

  • On large lakes, draw the coves, beaches and inlets that matter most. A 1,000-acre cove system quotes at about $3,150 for the season.
  • Start on May 1 so baselines form before bloom season.
  • After a storm or a busy holiday weekend, check the sediment layer at inflows and wake zones.
  • When an alert fires, confirm with a lab toxin test before making swim decisions.

About these results

Every image shows the date it was captured. Satellite products are derived from reflected light recorded as a satellite passes over your lake. Values are relative indices, not laboratory concentrations, and cannot identify an organism, a toxin, or a pollutant. Cloud, haze, sun glint, shallow water, and shoreline effects can distort or hide the signal, and small lakes, narrow arms, and coves may fall below the image resolution. Conditions can change within hours of a pass. The absence of a detected bloom or sediment does not mean the water is safe.

Water Watch maps the surface on clear days only; a cloudy stretch leaves gaps in the daily record. Results can help you make decisions about safe swimming, but are not definitive for every place and time, and it is always good practice to check posted signs and your state or local health authorities.
