Overview

The three fish tissue tests in one order: metals, PFAS, and a pesticide screen. Same tests, same price as buying them separately, one purchase and one set of instructions.

Each test covers a different group of contaminants, and no single panel covers them all. Mercury is the most common reason states advise limits on eating freshwater fish; PFOS is the fastest-growing reason; pesticide residues matter where farmland, orchards, or turf operations drain into the lake. Ordering all three answers the question as fully as these panels allow, from one sampling effort.

You can run all three on portions of the same fish, or on three different fish, as long as you record species, length, weight, catch location, and catch date for each sample. Both are legitimate; they answer slightly different questions.

What this bundle does and does not decide. Lake Pulse sells tests that measure what is in the fish. We do not decide whether you can eat it. Fish consumption advice is issued by state health and natural resource agencies, which set advice by species, by size, and by who is eating, and their advisory for your lake stands regardless of what a single fillet shows. Check your state advisory first, and treat these results as additional information alongside it.

Included in this bundle:

These panels do not cover PCBs, another common driver of state fish advisories. Your state's own fish testing program is the place to look for those.

Turnaround

Results are available within 10 business days of the lab receiving your samples.

What problem does this solve for our lake?

    What's included?

    • Three (3) fish tissue sampling kits, one for each analysis
    • All materials required for clean sample collection, packaging, and cold shipping
    • Step-by-step instructions covering filleting, labeling, freezing, and shipping
    • Sample record forms for species, length, weight, catch location, and catch date
    • Shipping to an accredited laboratory, with full chain of custody
    • Laboratory analysis for metals (mercury, arsenic, cadmium, lead), PFAS including PFOS, and a broad pesticide residue screen
    • Lab reports for all three analyses
    • Results loaded into your lake's account

    What's not included

    • A discount. The bundle is the same price as the three tests bought separately; it exists to make ordering simpler.
    • Fish collection. You catch, fillet, and ship the samples; we supply everything needed to do it correctly.
    • A consumption advisory or safety determination of any kind. That authority belongs to your state agency.
    • PCBs, a common driver of state fish advisories, which none of these panels covers.
    • Results that describe the whole lake. Each result describes one fillet, of one species and size, caught at one place and time.
    • Regulatory or compliance determinations

    Requirements

    • Fish handled and frozen promptly after catch, then shipped per the kit instructions
    • Species, length, weight, catch location, and catch date recorded for every sample — results cannot be interpreted without them
    • Fillets prepared consistently, skin on or skin off, and recorded either way
    • One species and one size class per sample, whether you use three portions of one fish or three separate fish
    • Your state's sampling guidance followed where you intend to compare results with its advisory
    • A Plus, Lake Admin, or PRO subscription to have results loaded into your Lake Pulse account
    • Questions about species selection, sampling design, or how results relate to your state advisory? Contact the Lake Pulse Boathouse before you order.
    What you get back

    Results

    • Metals concentrations: mercury, arsenic, cadmium, and lead
    • PFAS concentrations, including PFOS
    • Detections and concentrations across the screened pesticide residues
    • Results recorded against the species, size, and catch location you provide
    • A dated entry in your lake's record, so results accumulate across species and years
    • The signed lab reports filed in Documents & Reports
    • Results are found in your lake's portal, accessible only to Plus, Lake Admin, and PRO subscription tiers

    Pro tips

    • Start with the state advisory. Read what your state already says about this lake and these species before ordering.
    • Order the bundle when you want the fullest picture from one sampling effort, or when the lake has more than one plausible concern.
    • Three portions of one fish tells you what that fish carries. Three different fish tells you more about the lake. Decide which question you are asking before you sample.
    • Sample the species people actually eat, and the sizes they keep. Larger, older predators carry the most.
    • Repeat over years, using the same species and size class, if you want to see a trend.
    • Share results carefully. Fish results move a lake community quickly. Call the Boathouse before publishing anything.

We will never say we handle the science for you. A method you can see is one you can check, repeat, and defend. Lake Pulse sells measurement, not treatment — what you buy here positions you to solve the problem, and to prove whether it worked.

Results sync to the Portal for Plus, Lake Admin, and PRO subscribers

Results from this product land in your lake's shared record in the Portal — next to everything else your lake has ever measured, instead of in an inbox.
